They scooped, they manufactured, they shipped – but after a combined 20 years Ryan and Dave left the ice cream industry. They were looking for a change, so they went out into the world and got non-ice cream jobs. This didn’t last long. They missed it. They missed making it, selling it and the thing they missed most was the people.

So, in May of 2008 Shaker Pond Ice Cream was born. The company started as just a retail store in Alfred, ME (the ice cream was also made here). By September 2008 it could be found in a few small grocery stores, and now Shaker Pond Ice Cream is in over 50 locations in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts and at a second store location.

The same people that they missed now help them create Shaker Pond’s Ice Cream flavors. Dave and Ryan conduct around 35 tastings a year. The flavors that get the thumbs up, stay. This helps ensure that all the flavors on the menu (now over 60 flavors) make tasters happy.
